In the May 9 practical training session at the prefectural library, participants learned about little-known uses for the library, such as the reference function that allows them to search for materials with a librarian. We also learned that the library is not only a place to search for materials, but also a place for presentation and exchange through the use of the multi-purpose hall. During the tour of the library, we were all surprised to see the huge bookshelves that house 950,000 volumes in the underground stacks, which we do not usually see. We felt that it is important to conduct research at the library, where we can use a variety of media to complement research activities that tend to use the internet.
5月9日の県立図書館実地演習では司書さんと一緒に資料を探せるレファレンス機能など、図書館のあまり知られていない使い方について教えていただきました。また図書館は資料を探すだけでなく、多目的ホールの活用などの発表・交流の場としての役割も持っていることを知ることができました。館内見学では普段見ることのない地下書庫の95万冊を収蔵する巨大な本棚に一同とても驚かされました。インターネットを使いがちな探究活動の中で多様な媒体を活用できる図書館での探究も重要だと感じました。
